At Alcoa, you will become an essential part of our purpose: to turn raw potential into real progress. The way we see it, every Alcoan is a work-shaper, team-shaper, idea-shaper, world-shaper.

About the Role:

Alcoa is on a mission to restore a self-sustaining Jarrah Forest ecosystem, meeting our ambitious rehabilitation targets and returning this valuable resource to the State. We're looking for a dedicated professional to join our Rehabilitation Strategy and Performance Team as a key member, reporting directly to the Manager of Rehabilitation and Clearing.

In this pivotal role, you will play a crucial part in identifying and implementing improvement projects to ensure our operations meet both internal and external targets. You will recognize and mitigate risks to achieve our business objectives, author detailed scopes of work for high-risk rehabilitation areas, and provide comprehensive QA/QC services to maintain high standards. Additionally, you will manage and track project schedules to ensure timely delivery and regularly update stakeholders on program performance and progress.

Your core day to day activities will include:

  • Identifying and translating industry best practices into actionable project plans.

  • Driving productivity improvement initiatives such as in-pit crib facilities, optimized stockpile management, and fleet optimization to enhance rehabilitation plans.

  • Conducting trials on alternative methodologies like topsoil screening versus sifting.

  • Embracing technology to increase quality and productivity, including GPS, drone fertilizing, and airseeding.

  • Reviewing data and costs to ensure budget targets are met.

  • Developing comprehensive project schedules and resource plans.

  • Performing risk assessments for high-risk rehabilitation pits and creating detailed scopes of work for rework requirements.

At Alcoa, you will be part of a team dedicated to excellence, sustainability, and innovation. This is your chance to contribute to a vital environmental mission while advancing your career in a company that values your growth and success.

What's on offer:

  • Career development opportunities to pursue your passion

  • Monthly Leisure Day

  • Benefits allowance

  • Performance related bonus (variable)

  • 16 weeks paid parental leave scheme

  • Paid annual volunteer hours

  • Social and diversity focused engagement opportunities

What you can bring to the role:

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • Applicants should come from a Mining or Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveyor background with a minimum of 5-years' experience.

  • Collaborative leadership style with a track record in developing others to achieve their full potential and to deliver results through others.

  • Experienced in engaging a diverse team and fostering an inclusive, safety-focused work culture.

  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of strategic thinking, planning, problem solving skills, coordination and versatility.

  • An advocate for continuous improvement and skilled change leader.

  • Effective communication and influencing skills across all levels of the business.

  • Relevant surface mining experience with heavy mobile equipment, supported by a relevant degree qualification would be desirable though not essential.

As a leader within Alcoa, you can help fulfill our purpose and realize our vision to reinvent the aluminium industry. Be part of the team that is helping shape a better workplace with a better work-life balance and the equal opportunities that help everyone thrive. You have the power to shape things and individuals to make them better.
