About the role:
The Power Plant Trainer is responsible for guiding all team members, through accurate demonstration and formal documentation, ensuring practical and technical instruction always meets safety and quality standards. This person will also analyze current operating problems and future operating requirements to identify training needs and develop training programs for all employees. The role will report to the Power Plant Manager.
Main activities:
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate training for all Power Plant employees.
- Schedule and train employees in mobile equipment (including heavy), CPR, High/Low Voltage, non-technical material, Maintenance tools and shop equipment, etc.
- Conducts one-on-one, group, and hands on training.
- Build training aids, course materials, and manuals.
- Maintain training databases and use the Learning system to include online practices.
- Develop standardized procedures and tasks in all Departments.
- Coordinates and schedules all outside vendor instructor training.
- Train team members on all aspects of inspection, preventive, repair, and replacement.
- Build an evaluation process to make sure people are well trained.
- Identify areas of improvement within the departments. Work to develop best practice procedures.
- Continuously improving the skills/knowledge of all personnel.
- Experience in Net Learn & GPI/SOS Computer Based Training programs, including VA Benefits training for Veterans & DOE/Federal training requirements preferred but not required.
- Able to coordinate, schedule, & conduct group training for Town Halls and field training.
About you:

- Associate level degree from an accredited college or university with course work in a related field preferred
- 5-7 years' experience with Production/Maintenance, strong preference for coal fired power plant experience
- Navy or Armed Services experience can be helpful
- Proven experience as a training instructor
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.
- Understanding of safety and environmental requirements associated with industrial sites is preferred.
- Power Plant experience is preferred but not required.
