About the Role:
Are you experienced in driving a strong safety culture in complex operations? Can you partner with key internal and external stakeholders effectively? Then we want to hear from you!
Due to retirement, we are now seeking a collaborative leader to join our site leadership team as our Health & Safety Manager, delivering a comprehensive range of Occupational Health and Safety, Security and Contractor Management expertise to the refinery.
Reporting to the Refinery Manager you team will drive and support the effective implementation of safety management systems, strategies, and initiatives to ensure all Health & Safety objectives and targets are met.
In addition, you will support your location in operational safety guidance, diligence, consistency and discipline, instilling a strong health and safety culture across the refinery working closely with our Regional Health and Safety Centre of Excellence to achieve the best safety outcomes for Wagerup.
Key activities include:
Develop and implement health and safety improvement strategies and incident prevention methods.
Advise Senior Site Executive on training and development for safety-critical roles.
Implement and manage Health & Safety strategies and risk control frameworks.
Monitor systems, participate in reviews, change management, and incident investigations.
Continuously improve safety results through effective use of Health and Safety systems.
Stay updated on new methodologies for incident prevention and hazard identification.
Initiate and influence local Fatality Prevention initiatives.
Manage local Emergency Response, including teams and coordination with internal and external services.
Oversee Site Security Services, including access control, property security, and 24/7 monitoring.
Lead and manage the Occupational Hygiene team in consultation with the Regional Hygiene Manager.
Develop and lead a multidisciplinary Health and Safety Department through recruitment, training, and motivation.

What you can bring to the role:
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
Bachelor's or Postgraduate degree in Health and Safety Management (preferred).
Proven leadership experience in health and safety, with a strong track record of fostering a robust safety culture.
Extensive experience in heavy industry or the resources sector, particularly in high-risk and complex working environment.
Demonstrated passion for leadership, collaboration, and motivation to achieve operational excellence and meet safety objectives.
In-depth knowledge of WHS Acts and Regulations relevant to Western Australia, along with industry best practices.
Expertise in conducting audits, inspections, and investigations.
Proficiency in Risk-Based Health and Safety Management.
Strong ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels to drive continuous safety improvements.
