About the Role:


As the Director of Government Affairs and Communications, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to enhance Alcoa's relationships with government stakeholders, industry associations, and media, ensuring alignment with the company's business objectives and sustainability goals. The position will also oversee corporate communications, public affairs, and reputation management, fostering a positive public perception of Alcoa in Brazil.


Other key responsibilities include:

  • Develop Government Relations Strategies: Create and implement strategies to support Alcoa's business objectives in Brazil.

  • Engage with Government Entities: Advocate for beneficial policies by interacting with federal, state, and local governments, regulatory agencies, and industry associations.

  • Monitor Legislative Developments: Track and assess legislative and regulatory changes, advising leadership on strategic responses.

  • Corporate Communications Leadership: Lead Alcoa Brazil's corporate communications, ensuring alignment with global messaging and managing media relations and corporate reputation.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop communication strategies to engage internal and external stakeholders, including employees, communities, and the media.

  • Sustainability Advocacy: Align public affairs strategies with Alcoa's sustainability commitments, supporting ESG initiatives and responsible mining practices.

  • Community Engagement: Foster relationships with NGOs and community organizations, leading corporate social responsibility programs in Brazil.

What you can bring to the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Law, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field;

  • Experience in government relations, public affairs, corporate communications, or
    related roles, preferably within a multinational or industrial sector;

  • Strong understanding of Brazil's political, regulatory, and economic landscape, with experience
    navigating government and legislative processes;

  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic communications and public affairs initiatives;

  • Experience in crisis management, media relations, and corporate reputation management;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and English;

  • Availability to live in São Paulo, São Paulo.
