About the Role:
The Aluminum Plant Superintendent is responsible to provide support in meeting the Potroom Business Plan of Warrick Operations. This position is largely self-directed and must be comfortable multi-tasking and prioritizing tasks.
Major Activities/Key Challenges:
- Coaches all direct report Potroom Supervisors for production related issues and is the first call in the help chain for all production related problems on his/her crew.
- Lead and support implementation of the stability tools and all other continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate waste and make significant improvements throughout the department including increased employee engagement.
- Has accountability to support all business performance metrics to meet the departmental business plan (productivity, quality, safety, etc.) for the Potrooms.
- Accountable for identifying and handling critical upstream and downstream variables that may impact the Potroom operation.
- Be a leader in safety and performance management with all crew members.
- Act as a consultant to the Aluminum Plant and Carbon Plant Managers, Maintenance and Technical Managers in the categories of safety, quality and cost.
- Be a great teammate who is willing to listen to the perspectives of others and give them serious consideration when making decisions.
- Participate in solving complex process problems as a leader or participant of multi-disciplined team.
- Responsible for coordination of training and updating training records for operating crew members.
- Coordinates management of all vehicles preventative maintenance, operating supply availability, and production-related corrective action verifications.
- Responsible for origination, review, and update of all production Safe Work Instructions and Lock Out and Tag procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership position
- Associates degree in technical or business subject area
- Smelting experience
- Experience leading the implementation of continuous improvement tools.
Position is a 12-hour rotating shift, with some off-shift meetings as needed.
