JOB SUMMARY: To provide appropriate, efficient, and timely pre-hospital Advanced, Intermediate and Basic Life Support care to the sick and injured, in accordance with local, state, and national standards of practice.  This position provides highly professional services in the areas of patient care, health and safety compliance, medical record keeping and reporting, and other responsibilities that may be necessary on the project. This site is located in Swannanoa, North Carolina in a remote clinic setting and will operate on a 14/14 or 21/21 rotational schedule. Mileage, lodging, and daily per diem provided.

  1. Administers prompt and efficient basic and intermediate life support care within the limits of paramedic licensure and in accordance with approved protocols
  2. Documents all aspects of patient condition and treatment. Obtains and records non-medical patient information as required by the company.  
  3. Completes other patient documentation and forms as required by the company.  
  4. Conducts regular equipment inventory and testing to ensure all equipment for which the paramedic is responsible is present, clean and in proper working order. 
  5.  Conducts a careful examination of the patient for signs and symptoms of illness / injury and assists other medical personnel as necessary.
  6.  Provides prompt and efficient basic, intermediate or advanced life support care of the patient.
  7. In the absence of other qualified personnel, responsible for controlling the patient's surroundings is such a way as to minimize further danger and control the actions of bystanders.
  8.  Follows all FCC regulations when communicating via electronic communications equipment.
  9.  Attends all mandatory company meetings as scheduled.
  10.  Orders supplies and equipment from Central Supply to replenish inventories as needed.
  11.  Assist and/or perform Safety Inspections.
  12.  Facilitate and/or attend Safety Meetings.
  13.  Conducts record keeping, filing, data entry as required by the project.
  14.  Performs other duties as required by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. National and/or North Carolina State certification as an Emergency Medical Technician determined by appropriate contract requirements
  3. BLS certification
  4. National Registry preferred but not required
  5. Must be able to read, write and communicate professionally and effectively
  6. Bilingual Spanish speaking a plus
  7. Must be knowledgeable of company protocols, operational procedures and safety policies.
  8. Must have a sense of urgency for all work performed
