Salary: $73,671 - $110,138
The Industrial Engineer in Contract Logistics plays a key role in analyzing, optimizing, and improving manual and automated processes within the warehouse and distribution center. This position focuses on increasing operational efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing quality by identifying process improvement opportunities, implementing data-driven solutions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. This role involves analyzing current systems, designing and implementing improvements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth and cost-effective operations.
· Analyze warehouse processes, including material flow, storage, picking, packing, and shipping, to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
· Work closely with automation systems, sortation units, conveyors, and material handling equipment to enhance system performance and minimize downtime.
· Conduct time studies, data analysis, and process mapping to support continuous improvement initiatives.
· Assist in developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor process efficiency, labor productivity, and equipment effectiveness.
· Collaborate with operations, IT, automation, and engineering teams to implement process improvements and automation solutions.
· Support the evaluation, selection, and integration of new technologies and equipment, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
· Provide documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for process improvements and new system implementations.
· Participate in project management efforts, including planning, execution, and monitoring of improvement projects.
· Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in all engineering and operational projects.
· Develop and implement process improvements using lean principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other industrial engineering techniques.
· Prepare and present reports on project status, cost savings, and performance improvements.
· Support the development of cost estimates and proposals for new business opportunities.
Minimum Required Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.
· 2-5 years of experience in process engineering, automation, or warehouse operations.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) or enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
· Experience with simulation software (e.g., Arena, AnyLogic).
· Lean or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt preferred).
· Experience with specific material handling equipment (e.g., conveyors, AS/RS systems).
· Experience in contract logistics.
Essential Job Functions
· Process Improvement & Analysis: Analyzing warehouse processes (material flow, storage, picking, packing, shipping), identifying inefficiencies, and developing/implementing improvements using lean principles, Six Sigma, and other industrial engineering techniques. This includes time studies, data analysis, and process mapping.
· Automation & Technology Integration: Working with automation systems, sortation units, conveyors, and material handling equipment to optimize performance, minimize downtime, and support the evaluation, selection, and integration of new technologies.
· Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Developing and monitoring KPIs, preparing reports on project status, cost savings, and performance improvements, and supporting cost estimates and proposals.
· Collaboration & Project Management: Collaborating with various teams (operations, IT, automation, engineering) to implement process improvements and automation solutions, participating in project management efforts, and developing documentation/SOPs.
· Compliance & Safety: Ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
· Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
· Travel overnight as required.
· Work cooperatively with others.
· Interact with employees and customers in an appropriate manner.
· Use a computer for tasks such as communicating via email and preparing reports and work schedule.
· Review and analyze data and information.
· Plan, prioritize and monitor activities.
· Complete assigned tasks/projects in a timely manner.
· Comply with all Company policies and procedures
Physical Demands:
· Ability to walk and stand for extended periods in a warehouse environment.
· Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
· Ability to work in a variety of warehouse environments, which may include varying temperatures and noise levels.
· Ability to use a computer and other office equipment.
Work Environment:
· Warehouse and office environment with exposure to moving equipment and automation systems.
· May require occasional travel to other facilities for process improvement projects or training
