Employment Status: Full Time Working Hours: 36 hours a week (72 hours per pay period) Shift: 3rd shift (6pm-6am) Position Reports to: Emergency Department Nurse Manager               Department Description: Wilson Health's Emergency Department is a 20 bed ED unit with 14 cardiac monitored beds. The Emergency Department at Wilson Health has received national recognition for exceptionally quick treat release times for patients.            Job Summary: The Emergency Department Health Unit Coordinator (HUC)/Patient Care Technician (PCT) prepares and compiles records in nursing unit of hospital facility and provides essential patient care under direction of Registered Nurse.   Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the computer entry of patient information/registration and physician orders to ensure continuity of care.
  • Assist with the coordination of activities of the unit and ensures the necessary supplies are available to provide patient care.
  • Assure opens and timely communication with the patient, their significant others and team members to ensure the occurrence of therapeutic interventions.
  • Under direction of the RN/LPN, assists in meeting the physical and emotional needs of the patient on his/her assigned unit.  The patient population would include: the young-middle aged adult patient, and the geriatric patient.
  • Under the direction of the RN/LPN, carry out assigned treatments and procedures.
  • The HUC/PCT shall provide care based on ethical concepts, respect for life, dignity, human worth and the individuality of human beings.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Successfully completed an approved Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program; or three to six months related hospital experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support
