Sorts physician orders and manually transports to data entry. Procurement and processing of blood and body fluids of Laboratory testing

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. High school graduate or equivalent.

1. Processes and orders patient/physician orders according to procedure manual.

2. Answers telephone in a friendly voice and caring manner.

3. Transfers calls to appropriate associate and/or department according to need.

4. Communicates with satellite labs and drawing stations for interpretation of physician orders, specimen requirements, etc.

5. Trains and guides new associates of the laboratory.

6. Directs phlebotomy team for STAT/now collections.

7. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate to the adolescent, adult, geriatric patient per the established age-specific standard.

8. Operates pneumatic chutes and answers them in a timely manner.

9. Operates the telephone so not to prolong callers' waiting period and/or lose the call.

10. Operates HIS and LIS computer systems according to the procedure manual.

11. Prepares, sorts, and delivers patient reports to physician office boxes.

12. Faxes reports to physicians' offices.

13. Telephones in and outpatient results of critical values, including "Read Back", as needed by the technicians.

14. Receives specimens into Lab Computer System.

15. Delivers appropriate specimens to appropriate department.

16. Replenishes outreach client supplies when needed.

17. Inventory and order all office supplies.

18. Inventory and order all computer system supplies.

19. Orders tests on in and outpatients according to manual orders received.

20. Communicates status of reports with nursing units and physician offices as appropriate.

21. Wears task appropriate protective apparel.

22. Complies with safety policies applicable to work area as outlined in the safety manual.
