Description

This is a day shift position working 8 hours daily and 32 hours per week.  The schedule is based on surgery schedules to meet the needs of the department and patients. While this is primary to day shift, evening and weekend call rotation is a required and expected piece of the position. The applicant must be within 45 minutes of the facility at all times while on call. position reports to the Director of Perioperative Services.

• Certification course in Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) preferred and must be successfully completed within 1 year of hire. The International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) is the certifying body for the CRCST Certification.
• One year or greater previous instrument processing preferred.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Must be able to maintain ongoing compliance and/or education related to the Sterile Processing Field

• Knowledge and practice of correct decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, disassembling, packaging, and sterilizing reusable surgical instruments or devices that are essential for patient safety.
• Maintain accurate records of results of sterility monitors
• Implement actions, as appropriate, by Committee and Quality Council requirements
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem solving skills with attention to detail
• Must be flexible/dependable and a self-motivator
• Able to meet the physical demands of the position. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs, bend, twist, stoop, reach.
• Assist with inventory control
• Maintain a clean and efficient work environment
