Description

The Enterprise Data Services Team within the Enterprise Technology Innovation and Services department of the Office of Information Technology is seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL both on-premises and in cloud environments like AWS and Azure. This role requires a deep understanding of database management, cloud platforms, and scripting techniques.

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) Enterprise Data Services (EDS) team is looking for someone with data engineering or database administration background, with a preference towards data engineering. A Temporary Data Engineer is also posted and the department will hire for only 1 position. Interested candidates should submit their resume and cover letter detailing their relevant experience and qualifications for one or both positions in order to be considered.

This position is temporary and is currently funded through August 31, 2025.

Minimum Education and Experience

.High school graduate or equivalent.



Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and two years of experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education, certification, and/or experience may be considered.
  • At least two years of DBA experience.
  • Proven experience in managing and maintaining RDBMS such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
  • Strong understanding of database management principles, data integration, and ETL processes.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and/or PowerShell.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and their database services.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of database governance and security best practices.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques.
  • Experience with other database technologies and tools.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain RDBMS including Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL on-premises and in AWS and Azure environments.
  • Develop and maintain scripts using Bash, Python, and/or PowerShell to automate database tasks and processes.
  • Ensure database quality, security, and compliance with organizational policies and industry standards.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of databases to ensure efficient data processing and retrieval.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for database-related issues.
  • Document database architecture, processes, and workflows for future reference and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with various departments to understand database requirements and ensure seamless data integration.
