Description
The Enterprise Data Services Team within the Enterprise Technology Innovation and Services department of the Office of Information Technology is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a data hub using AWS Lake Formation, AWS DataZone, or Azure Data Lake with Synapse, Data Factory, or Fabric. This role requires a deep understanding of data management, cloud platforms, and data integration techniques.
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) Enterprise Data Services (EDS) team is looking for someone with data engineering or database administration background, with a preference towards data engineering. A Temporary Database Administrator is also posted and the department will hire for only 1 position. This position is temporary and is currently funded through August 31, 2025.
Minimum Education and Experience
.High school graduate or equivalent.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and two years of experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education, certification, and/or experience may be considered.
- At least two years of Data Engineering experience.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing data solutions using AWS Lake Formation, AWS Glue, AWS DataZone, Azure Data Lake with Synapse, Data Factory, or Fabric.
- Strong understanding of data management principles, data integration, and ETL processes.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, and experience with Apache Spark.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and their data services.
- Experience with Apache SPARK and notebooks.
- Experience with data visualization tools, particularly PowerBI.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of database governance and security best practices.
- Experience with other data technologies and tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Databricks, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement a data hub using AWS Lake Formation, AWS glue, Cloudformation, AWS DataZone, or Azure Data Lake with Synapse, Data Factory, or Fabric.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines to ingest, process, and store data from multiple sources.
- Ensure data quality, security, and compliance with organizational policies and industry standards.
- Monitor and optimize the performance of the data hub to ensure efficient data processing and retrieval.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for data-related issues.
- Document data architecture, processes, and workflows for future reference and maintenance.
- Collaborate with various departments to understand database requirements and ensure seamless data integration.
- Participate in on-call rotation for supported database environments, both during regular business hours and off-hours (emergency on-call availability 24×7×365)
