The UT Dallas Office of Institutional Compliance is currently hiring for two equal opportunity specialists to join our team. Successful candidates must meet the minimum education and experience requirements for the following positions and must have strong communication and writing skills.
Position 1: Equal Opportunity Specialist II (investigation-focused)
Under the direction of the Senior Director, the Equal Opportunity Specialist II will investigate discrimination and sexual misconduct (Title IX and non-Title IX) complaints; provide educational programming and outreach to the campus community; and monitor compliance activities. This position will serve as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator.
Responsibilities include:
- Investigation and Complaint Resolution – 65%
- Educational Programming, Prevention Training, and Outreach Activities – 30%
- Other – 5%
Position 2: Equal Opportunity Specialist II (intake/support-focused)
Under the direction of the Senior Director, the Equal Opportunity Specialist II will manage intake and supportive measures; support discrimination and sexual misconduct (Title IX and non-Title IX) administrative grievance and resolution procedures; participate in training and outreach efforts; and monitor compliance activities. This position will serve as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator.
Responsibilities include:
- Case Intake, Support Services, and Case Management – 50%
- Educational Programming, Prevention Training, and Outreach Activities – 25%
- Investigation and Complaint Resolution – 20%
- Other – 5%
Position Information
- FLSA Status: Exempt
- Salary Grade: 13
- Anticipated Salary Range: $68,000 to $78,000 depending on experience
- Note: salary offers higher than $74,000 will require relevant investigation experience

Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and three years of experience in equal opportunity (e.g., Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, ADA), human resources, regulatory compliance or related field, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Both Positions:

- Position Specific: Proficiency with interpreting, applying, and monitoring federal and state regulations and organizational policies; proficiency with writing, summarizing, and analyzing complex information in an understandable and accurate manner; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software; ability to organize workflow and coordinate activities; ability to work independently and as part of a team; and willingness to receive feedback and adapt in the pursuit of professional growth.

What We Would Like You to Have – Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Both Positions:
- Master's degree or JD from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated understanding of equal opportunity laws and regulations (e.g., Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, ADA, etc.,).
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement educational and training programs with effective presentation and facilitation skills and ability to adapt those skills to a variety of audiences.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the department's case management systems (i.e., Maxient and Case IQ).
- Demonstrated experience conducting investigations and/or coordinating activities in an equal opportunity and/or sexual misconduct arena, preferably working in an institution of higher education.
- Equal Opportunity and/or Title IX Investigator certification or completion of sexual harassment prevention and response training from a nationally recognized organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Both Positions: (see the Job Summary section for differences in the distribution of duties between Position 1 and Position 2)
Case Intake, Support Services, and Case Management
- Conduct and manage the intake of reports and complaints, including, but not limited to, complaint procedures and resolution options; supportive and/or interim measures; resource referrals; informal resolutions; and appropriate documentation.
- Support the Ethics & Compliance Hotline by coordinating the processing of reports from assignment to resolution and monitoring timely responses.
- Assist in ongoing internal monitoring of compliance activities (e.g., accurate documentation and records in case management system; compliance reporting and ad-hoc requests).
- Coordinate and monitor accommodations for pregnant and parenting students under Title IX and collaborate with other departments under SB 412, when applicable, in accordance with university policies.
- Conduct thorough, timely, and impartial investigations involving complaints of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and sexual misconduct (including sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking) in compliance with applicable university policies and departmental protocols. May assist with other types of compliance investigations and as assigned.
- Draft well-written, comprehensive investigation reports in a timely manner that accurately review and synthesize all relevant allegations and evidence; and present investigative summaries to hearing panels and/or Appropriate Administrative Officers in accordance with university policies and procedures.
- Manage multiple, complex cases and private or confidential information with discretion and sensitivity; meet various deadlines; maintain neutrality; demonstrate effective communication skills throughout the investigation process; exercise sound judgement and decision-making; and ensure timely documentation for each case assignment in the department's case management system.
- Provide ongoing updates to the Senior Director, designated departmental staff, applicable stakeholders, and other administrators as necessary and appropriate.
- Continue to develop subject matter expertise and integrate best practices in civil rights investigation into daily work and professional knowledge base.
- Design, coordinate, and deliver targeted training programs and outreach strategies that increase visibility and raise awareness of rights, responsibilities, and resources related to discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, retaliation, applicable university policies, and other institutional compliance program content to the campus community, including students, faculty, and staff.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director to establish a programming schedule for each semester, and partner with departmental colleagues and/or university partners as appropriate to develop content.
- Maintain current expertise in the field, including emerging regulatory obligations and trends, through meaningful and continuing engagement as well as professional development on best practices, leadership, program development and assessment, and institutional risk and compliance management.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Work Schedule
Regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in-office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. Individuals must live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and have the ability to be on campus for work activities as scheduled and/or with notice.
