The successful candidate should possess a passion for public education and an interest in the fields of neuroscience, psychology, and speech, language and hearing. The Director of Development and Alumni Relations will be intellectually curious and committed to continuously improving their leadership, skills, and knowledge.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Development and Alumni Relations, this position is the primary development officer for the UT Dallas School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences and following affiliated research centers: Center for Advanced Pain Studies, Center for Children and Families, and Center for Vital Longevity. The Director of Development will also provide support to the School's other affiliated research centers as needed. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Dean, Associate Deans, faculty and staff, Advisory Councils, and other development and alumni relations staff to perform the primary tasks required to support the activities of major gift and principal gift solicitations, including planned gifts as appropriate, and a secondary role supporting alumni relations activities.

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree with five or more years of fundraising experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree and at least seven years of development expertise including experience with major gift solicitations, planned giving solicitations, and relationship management. There is a preference for candidates with prior higher education major gift fundraising experience and for candidates with experience fundraising for scientific research. Demonstrated experience managing high-level relationships and securing gifts of $25,000 or more is required. Candidates must also possess outstanding speaking, writing, and time-management skills. The position requires occasional evening/weekend hours, as well as some travel. Salary will be commensurate with experience, education, and abilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Advise individuals, foundations, and corporations with the capacity and interest to make a major philanthropic commitment in support of the School and Centers. Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of qualified major gift prospects and document all activity in the University's alumni and donor management database. Travel as needed throughout North Texas and other regions where large concentrations of potential donors are located. Collaborate with other staff in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations, including alumni relations, annual giving, communications and marketing, corporate and foundation relations, donor relations, gift planning and prospect research to develop effective approaches to major gift cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. The Director of Development and Alumni Relations will work directly with the Senior Director, Dean, Associate Deans, Center Directors, Department Chairs, and individual faculty and staff as needed to identify and execute a development and alumni relationship strategy focused on raising major gifts of $25,000 or more to support UTD's mission to deliver an extremely high-quality public education.

Remote Work:
Hybrid remote work environment available and a UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement is required upon employment. Use of personal computer and other standard office equipment may be required. Must be located within the State of Texas (or Must be located within the DFW Area) and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice.
