Position Description

The Public Policy and Political Economy Program in the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences (EPPS) at The University of Texas at Dallas is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Global Health Policy at the assistant professor rank. We welcome applicants from a broad range of interests in global health, international health policy, health informatics and related fields. The selected candidate will have a PhD in a public policy or public health-related field and have a research agenda focusing on various outstanding global health issues such as health policy analysis and evaluation, AI/big data and digital health, health care disparity and accessibility, environmental health and disaster prevention, global health politics and health systems, and community and population health across global, national, and subnational/local scales. The selected candidate will also possess very strong collaborative and organizational skills based on experiences working with diverse international communities through partnerships on health issues.

The new hire will be responsible for teaching and developing graduate and undergraduate courses focused on global health policy and related topics. Advising undergraduate and graduate students, service on various school and university committees, professional and community activities are also expected. Research activities should produce peer-reviewed publications and extramural funding. Working in close collaboration with the local research community is highly encouraged. The appointment commences for the fall 2025 semester.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience: A PhD or equivalent in Global Health, Public Health, Public Policy or a related discipline is required prior to employment. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to produce research and scholarly or creative achievements that enhance the program and the discipline, and able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences. Preferred Education and Experience: A demonstrated ability to secure external funding for research activities is also preferred.
The Program and School

The School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences (EPPS) at UT Dallas is a national leader in research addressing critical social, political and economic issues. Our graduates work in government, nonprofits and the private sector, with many pursuing advanced degrees that prepare them for leadership roles in advancing positive change at the local, national and global levels. Our highly ranked program offers BA, MS, and PhD degrees with 300 undergraduate students and 46 graduate students currently enrolled.

Candidates should have an earned PhD in a public policy or public health related field. ABD will be considered, but the PhD must be awarded by the time of appointment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence.
Prepare and teach undergraduate and/or graduate classes.
Contribute assessment information and data as requested.
Mentor and/or advise undergraduate and/or graduate students.
Establish and/or continue an independent line of research.
Teach four (4) courses each academic year.
Continue to expand professional influence in the academic discipline through research and/or publication.
Engage in service within the academic unit, the university, and the profession as appropriate based on teaching and research constraints.
