Starting pay – $32.40/hour*+ depending on years of experience

A Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CIS) Clinician 1 is an entry–level professional in the Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, focused primarily on developing knowledge and skills. Provides safe patient care at a basic level and shows growth in ability to care for increasingly complex patients in the role of scrub and circulator in sterile cardiac procedures. Requires consultation with more experienced clinicians and benefits from feedback.

UVA operates five Cardiac catheterization labs and five EP labs. Each unit operates independently of one another. The Cath lab CIS supports patients undergoing coronary angiograms, diagnostic and interventional coronary interventions, right heart catheterizations, structural heart cases, peripheral cases, ventricular support devices, and/or pediatric diagnostic and interventions cases. It is an ideal environment for individuals who enjoy a fast paced and exciting work environment while focusing on one patient at a time. The EP lab CIS supports adult and pediatric patients undergoing pacemaker and implantable cardioverter defibrillator insertions, heart rhythm ablations, complex lead extractions, insertable cardiac monitors, and left atrial appendage closures. Both units are proud to be part of the nationally ranked UVA Children?s Pediatric Cardiology & Heart Surgery program.

  • Responsible for performing specialized technologist roles within the invasive cardiovascular procedure setting.
  • Operates specific high technology equipment under the direction of a qualified physician to assist with procedures performed on patients which lead to the diagnosis and treatment of congenital and acquired heart and peripheral vascular disease.
  • Ensures imaging system for procedures is appropriately operated under the direct supervision of an authorized physician user of radiation emitting imaging equipment. Proper radiation and equipment safety standards are consistently met.
  • Assists lab team with management of critical care and other complex patients.

Position Compensation Range: $26.76 – $42.82 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Graduate of an accredited formal medical education program such as CVT, EMT, Paramedic, Radiography, Respiratory Therapy, Sonography, or Associate?s Degree or greater in a Health Sciences related field. Radiography Technician preferred.
Experience: Clinical patient care experience, 2 years or more strongly preferred.
Licensure: American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support certification required.
Preparing for certification in ACLS, with manager discretion.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires sitting/standing for prolonged periods and frequently bending/stooping/walking, reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive); Repetitive motion (computer keyboard). Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50–100lbs. Ability to wear lead aprons for extended periods of time. May be exposed to chemicals, cold, dust, noise, radiation, blood/body fluids/infectious disease.
