Summary of Job Duties: The Utilization Review Specialist works directly under the supervision of the Psychiatric Research Institute (PRI) Walker Family Clinic Program Manager to perform daily utilization management tasks with Medicaid and other insurers for our clinics. The Utilization Review Specialist must have the ability to make decisions related to Medicaid regulations and create Master Treatment Plans and Master Treatment Plan Reviews. They must understand mental health diagnosis and treatment. They will also be responsible for keeping current all pre-authorizations for Medicaid and private insurance current for all providers in the clinics supported. They work closely with other Utilization Review Specialists. They will complete reports related to insurance requirements, and audits related to accreditation requirements. In addition, this position may contact patients via phone calls or letters. This position completes clinical and administrative processes and documentation in compliance with relevant policies and procedures, participates in staff meetings, training, supervision, and continuing education activities as needed to maintain quality and coordination of care. They will maintain the internal waiting list for group and individual psychotherapy.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related mental health field

  • One (1) year of utilization management or administrative experience working in mental health.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related mental health field

  • One (1) year Utilization Management mental health experience in an outpatient setting

  • Knowledge of mental health, Arkansas Medicaid, and other private insurance requirements


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Completes prior authorizations and other related documentation required for treatment of Medicaid and private insurance clients.

  • Develops and maintains files, records, correspondence, and reports.

  • Responds to and communicates with patients via phone, in person, or email and escalates questions as appropriate.

  • Oversees and complies with policies and procedures, and makes recommendations as appropriate.

  • Stays abreast of changes in Medicaid regulations and disseminates requirements to clinical staff.

  • Performs other duties as assigned
