Main Function:
Achieve optimal performance of the pulmonary function testing lab in accordance with revenue projections and productivity model.
Required Job Specific Competencies:
- Participation in activities of the pulmonary function testing labs to include scheduling and performing various pulmonary function tests.
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures.
- Prepare reports of procedures performed; maintain records and files reflecting patient information, expenditures, revenue and other operational data.
- Implement procedures to ensure maintenance and operation of diagnostic equipment within manufacturers specifications and accreditation requirements; document quality control procedures.
- Ensure adequate inventory of laboratory supplies and materials.
- Coordinate certification programs and continuing education information for the laboratory.
- Demonstrates a high degree of skill in all components of respiratory care including: Medicated Aerosol Therapy, Medical Gas Therapy, and Pulmonary Function Testing.
- Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy and physiology in all areas that pertain to the practice of Respiratory Therapy.
- Understands disease processes and their impact on the cardiopulmonary system.
- Possesses a high level of technical skill in equipment operation as related to respiratory care.
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently and exhibits flexibility in decision making and prioritizing assignments.
- Functions as a team member, relaying clear and concise communication to ensure optimal patient care.
- Demonstrates the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with all members of the patient care team.
- Exhibits leadership skills through active participation in and advocacy of patient's care needs.
- Actively guards the confidentiality of sensitive information including but not limited to the patients, staff and the health system.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient.
- Contributes to patient outcomes by participating in interdisciplinary processes
Qualifications:
- Must be registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care or grandfathered in to the NBRC.
- Must be licensed as a Respiratory Therapist by New York State Department of Professions.
- Must maintain a current BLS certification.
- Required - Graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy Program
- Preferred - Graduate of an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy Associate or Bachelor Program
- Required Three years' experience as a Respiratory Therapist or 5 years as a Certified Therapist.

Pay Range: $34.00 - $45.00
Starting Pay: Based on Experience
