The state supported living centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. The Administrative Assistant I performs administrative support work involving disseminating information, preparing correspondence, and maintaining filing systems.

 

Essential Job Functions (EJFs):

 

Prepares and disseminates information concerning agency programs, services, and procedures.

Prepares, edits, and distributes correspondence, reports, studies, forms, and documents.

Answers and routes phone calls; routes mail, files, and orders; and maintains office supplies.

Creates, maintains, and enters information into databases.

Compiles data for charts, graphs, databases, summaries, or reports.

Maintains scheduling and event calendars.

Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Performs related work as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

 

Knowledge of office practices and administrative procedures.

Skill in the use of standard office equipment and software.

 

Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications:

 

No license or certification required.

 

Initial Screening Criteria:

 

Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred.

At least 2 years secretarial/clerical experience. 

 

Additional Information:

 

Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct and HHS List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

 

Males between the ages of 18 – 25 must be registered with the Selective Service.

 

All State Supported Living Center Employees are subject to Random Drug Testing.

 

Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
