Fostering Advancement of Inclusive, Rights-Based (FAIR) Justice Program
Advancing Australia and the Philippines' commitment to the rule of law, rights-based justice, and accountable institutions, the FAIR Justice Program aims to enhance stability, security, and prosperity in the Philippines and the Indo-Pacific region. By supporting judicial reforms and promoting synergy with DFAT investments, the program targets rights-based justice, countering terrorism, human trafficking, and protecting children against exploitation.
The program strengthens partnerships with the Philippine Judiciary and broader law and justice community, bolstering relationships with Australian counterparts and fostering collaborations with civil society and the private sector. FAIR Justice focuses on improving access to justice for vulnerable groups through three key outcomes:
- Enhanced knowledge and capacity of judges and court personnel.
- Adoption of reforms for increased transparency and accountability.
- Promotion of accessible and inclusive legal and judicial services
Position Overview:
As a Senior Program Officer, Judicial Accessibility, you will play a crucial role in supporting law and justice actors in developing, improving, and adopting inclusive policies, guidelines, and practices. You will collaborate with civil society organizations and private sector entities to align efforts and bridge the gap between supply and demand in the justice system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with the FAIR Justice team, to ensure that all activities support law and justice partners and mutually support the achievement of the three EOPOs.
- Lead the development and implementation of the Intersectionality Strategy and Action Plan.
- Co-lead a community of practice on GEDSI and equality and access to justice.
- Provide specific and contextual technical assistance and capacity strengthening support to program teams and stakeholders to improve equality and access to justice for marginalised groups.
Selection Criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in Law, International Development, Social Studies, or other relevant discipline.
- Extensive experience in project or program management.
- Demonstrated experience successfully advocating for equality and accessibility within the justice sector.
- A deep understanding of the institutional, legal, and policy frameworks for GEDSI in the Philippines.
- Sound knowledge of the barriers preventing marginalised groups from accessing justice in the Philippine context.
- Strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills and an ability to form productive and effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.
