SENIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

LOCATION: 2000, 250 6 Ave SW Calgary, Alberta

STATUS: Contractor, Part Time (Approx 20 hours per week)

Our Calgary office is a multidisciplinary team of designers, technologists, and engineers. We specialize in small to mid-sized projects for clients across Canada. The types of clients we work for include:

  • Heavy Industrial Facilities
  • Pipelines and Pipeline Facilities
  • Refineries and Processing Facilities
  • Mineral Processing
  •  Municipal & Utilities
  • Water treatment
  • Energy Transition (CO2, Hydrogen, RNG, Renewables and associated minerals)

We are currently searching for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Calgary, Alberta. Electrical team members will work closely with a group of engineering professionals and will gain valuable hands-on engineering experience in a challenging and versatile engineering consulting environment. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Electrical design of power distribution, control, communication, lighting, commercial, institutional and municipal sectors
  • Technical calculations and software use for load calculations, arc flash, fault & coordination studies, power system design
  • On site electrical research, construction audits, field reviews
  • Writing detailed and concise technical reports, feasibility studies, proposals, including written responses and instructions as required
  • Conducting all tasks in cooperation with internal clients and other engineering disciplines
  • Managing and enhancing client relationships
  • Other duties as assigned/required
  • Planning schedules/tasks, implementing electrical system studies, preparing materials specs and capital/engineering cost estimates, reviewing design/technical solutions and prepare reports.
  • Liaison and coordinating with clients to obtain and develop engineering projects
  • Preparing proposals and engineering estimates
  • Planning schedules, design tasks, and project execution
  • Preparing project scoping documents and capital cost estimates
  • Assisting with mentoring junior engineers and designers
  • Controlling design budgets and cost control monitoring and work with our Project Controls group
  • Preparing equipment and design specifications
  • Preparing engineering reports, tender and construction drawings and documents
  • Designing reviews so that work is properly checked in accordance with Company and client standards
  • Managing projects to control design team budget and other project management as requested by clients
  • Coordinating electrical work with Project Managers/Project Engineers to facilitate inter-discipline quality
  • Responsible for adhering to all health and safety policies and guidelines
  • Mentor junior and intermediate engineers

Qualifications - External

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • 20+ years Electrical engineering experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
  • Registered as a professional engineer in Alberta
  • Knowledge of industry standards and codes including the Canadian Electrical Code
  • MS Office competent
  • Solid organization and time management abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills combined with a positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Excellent Communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High level of personal integrity with a strong work ethic
