Job Details
We are currently looking for an experienced Environmental Engineer, Scientist or Technologist to join our team in either Winnipeg, Manitoba or Regina, Saskatchewan. This position offers the opportunity to work in Tetra Tech's expanding environment and water practice with a group of experienced scientists, geologists, and engineers. The successful candidate will work on a variety of geo-environmental projects, will be immersed in a diverse and dynamic environment, and will work on multi-disciplinary scopes of work for a range of clients including government, natural resources, and commercial / industrial companies. Responsibilities will include supporting environmental site assessments (Ph I, II and III ESAs), due diligence assessments, permitting and regulatory compliance, site remediation and risk management projects in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, North Western Ontario and northern Canada.
The successful candidate must be highly motivated; customer focused, capable of adapting to multiple project demands and changing conditions, and work well in a team environment. The successful candidate will need to manage a dynamic workload. The role will include both office and field-based assignments and will require travel throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Nunavut with the potential to work across western Canada.
Responsibilities
· Provide support to field staff on simple to complex environmental site investigations (e.g., Phase I, II and III ESAs), periodic soil and groundwater monitoring and sampling, and monitoring of remediation activities throughout the prairie provinces and the Arctic.
· Perform hazardous building material assessments and sampling in accordance with company, client, and industry standards.
· Maintain meticulous and comprehensive field notes.
· Project Coordination and Project Management for environmental and infrastructure projects.
· Prepare draft work plans for review by senior staff.
· Communicate and coordinate with field contractors.
· Co-ordinate the schedules and activities of project sub-contractors.
· Work with senior technical staff to deliver high quality products to meet our client's specific needs.
· Review field analytical data and provide initial data interpretation.
· Prepare environmental site assessment and other technical reports.
· Use industry practices and procedures to solve environmental problems and develop recommendations for our client's consideration.
· Support the preparation of proposals in response to various types of requests.
· Complete work assignments within the agreed upon budget and schedule.

Qualifications
· A university degree in Environmental Engineering, Geoscience or Science, or a diploma in Environmental/Civil Engineering Technology or related field is preferred.
· 5-10 years of environmental consulting experience, showing increasing responsibility.
· Previous environmental assessment experience (soil and groundwater sampling, Phase I and II environmental site assessments, site remediation, risk management, hazardous building material assessments).
· Knowledge and understanding of provincial and federal environmental guidelines.
A strong desire to work as part of a team that is committed to protecting the health and safety of project participants.
· A self-starter with a positive attitude and good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with limited supervision.
· A valid Canadian Class 5 driver's license with a clean abstract
· Willing to travel and be away from home for extended periods of time.

A technical/practical assessment may be administered during the selection process and this exercise will be used as a part of the selection criterion.
