Convergence Controls and Engineering, a Tetra Tech Company, is seeking a full-time Controls Engineer for PLC, DCS, and SCADA Engineers.

 

The Controls Engineer works on a variety of projects delivering automation systems for diverse industries. This position provides the opportunity to interact with clients to understand the automation requirements and transform them into effective control solutions. This is done using strong project execution methodologies, established procedures and using good judgment in making adaptations and modifications. This is a leadership role that requires strong technical ability, communication skills, the ability to mentor others and establish relationships with clients and vendors.

This is an in-office role located in Katy, TX or Littleton, CO. 

 

Your Role

  • Deliver innovative automation solutions and design standards, either independently or leading a team.
  • Conceptualize, detail, and implement control systems for industrial processes and machinery to meet customer requirements.
  • Develop control system architecture, select components, detail schematic diagrams, and create system documentation.
  • Program controllers (PLC, DCS, RTU) and process visualization (HMI/SCADA); develop databases for historical system data.
  • Implement and commission control systems at client facilities.
  • Utilize controller programming languages (Ladder, Sequential Function Chart, Structured Text) to achieve desired results.
  • Preferably proficient in standard programming languages (VBA, .NET, SQL) for HMI/SCADA development.
  • Design and implement industrial networking solutions using Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, etc., for larger systems.
  • Manage projects including developing execution plans, work breakdown structures, budgets, task prioritization, scheduling, and time tracking.
  • Handle financial tracking, early problem identification, conflict resolution, and lead/support project teams.
  • Oversee daily project operations, ensuring overall project profitability and attending status meetings as required.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science is required. 
  • 5+ years' experience in industries such as Oil & Gas, Water/Wastewater, Mining Life Sciences, Building Automation, Manufacturing and Food & Beverage.
  • Experience in the design of electrical schematics, including power distribution under 480VAC, control panels and associated NEC references desired.
  • Experience with AutoCAD is also desired.
  • Experience leading a team of engineers/technicians to provide control system solutions.
  • Experience mentoring less experienced engineers.
  • This position could require periodic travel, approximately 15% or more

CO Salary: $85,000-$140,000 dependent on experience
