Tetra Tech International Development is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified senior-level candidates for a Chief of Party (COP) position on an anticipated five-year USAID-funded Disaster Resilience Activity in Armenia.
Position Description/Summary:
The Activity aims to develop national capacity to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural and human-caused disasters. The Chief of Party will be responsible for providing technical leadership and administrative oversight to the activity, managing interventions and staff to ensure that the project proceeds effectively and meets its targets. This position will be based in Yerevan, Armenia.
Responsibilities:
*Serve as the primary point of contact with USAID/Armenia for day-to-day implementation and management matters relating to the award.
*The COP will have overall responsibility for the contract ensuring quality control, the appropriateness and overall responsiveness of all activities performed under the contract, whether by long- or short-term advisors or others.
*Provide strategic leadership, vision and direction for the activity; strategic planning, including timely preparation of the reports and work plans.
*Mentor activity staff, sub-awardees, and consultants to achieve expected results.
*Ensure high quality standards of technical assistance and support to Activity partners.
*Manage program communications with USAID, key stakeholders, and the general public.
*Ensure compliance with USAID, USG and Government of Armenia laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
*Other tasks as required to achieve the Activity Objectives and Key Results.
Qualifications:
*A master's degree or equivalent is preferred, in a relevant field such as economics, international relations, public administration and policy, law, disaster/emergency management, or environmental studies.
*At least 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience in the implementation of complex programming or activities in technical areas relevant to the Activity.
*At least 5 years of senior management experience on donor-funded programs and a strong track record of building and maintaining strong teams. USAID experience preferred.
*Prior experience supporting or implementing initiatives to develop, support or strengthen early warning, disaster mitigation, preparedness, and emergency response systems at the national or local level.
*Experience working with international donors in Armenia or Eurasia.
*Proven experience effectively working and building strong relationships with a broad range of counterparts and stakeholders, including high government officials, private sectors, and other donors is required.
*Strong communication skills, including interpersonal and written and oral English and Russian required.
*Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
