- 5-7 years' experience as diesel mechanic, with a construction, heavy equipment, or equipment rental background.
- Must have the tools you need to perform repairs in this line of work; $10,000 in estimated value.
- Experience with diesel and gas engines as well as drive trains is required.
- Experience performing preventative maintenance, major, and minor repairs on hydraulic, electrical, ignition, pneumatic systems is required.
- You will have strong troubleshooting and diagnostics skills; experience with electrical, hydraulic, fuel systems, ignition, and drivetrain.
- A DOT medical card is required – don't have one? Don't worry! We can help you get yours.
- Clean driving record as you may be in the on-call rotation; maintaining a safe driving record is the highest priority to maintain our safety culture.
- Solving problems and troubleshooting go hand-in-hand in this role.
- Maintenance and Repairs: Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnostics on a variety of diesel-powered equipment, including heavy machinery, trucks, and smaller tools. This includes tasks like changing oil and filters, inspecting hydraulic systems, and addressing any mechanical issues.
- Outdoor Work: As a field service mechanic, you'll work primarily outdoors, often in less-than-ideal weather conditions. This may include working in the rain, snow, or extreme heat. Be prepared to adapt to the elements while maintaining safety standards.
- Safety Sensitivity: This position is safety-sensitive, meaning that the mechanic's job directly affects the safety of the equipment and those who operate it. Strict adherence to safety protocols and guidelines is crucial.
- Physical Demands: The job can be physically demanding, as it involves lifting heavy equipment parts, crawling under machinery, and standing for extended periods. Good physical fitness and stamina are important.
- Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: You'll need strong problem-solving skills to identify issues with equipment, conduct thorough diagnostics, and determine the appropriate repair procedures.
- Valid Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required because you will need to travel to job sites and transport equipment to and from the service location.
