The Cannabis Control Board (CCB) is recruiting for a motivated individual to join our collaborative and dedicated team in the role of Laboratory Director. The Laboratory Director will spearhead the State laboratory operations and plays a key role in shaping and executing the compliance strategy for the Board. With a deep understanding of scientific and forensic disciplines, laboratory methodologies, and the cannabis industry, the Laboratory Director is responsible for both day-to-day operations of the Cannabis Quality Control Laboratory and the development of the Board's long-term cannabis testing requirements, laboratory certification and accreditation plan, and compliance auditing strategy.

This position is responsible for:

  • Critical start up activities, including overseeing sampling, testing, data analysis, and reporting; managing multiple analytical projects
  • Preparing method development, optimization, and validation protocols and analytical technical reports
  • Ensuring development and implementation of laboratory standard operating procedures.

An advisor to the Board members and Executive Director on the quality control program, the Director will ensure the highest quality scientific services to the regulatory agency and the safest products available to the Vermont consumer. The Laboratory Director will also collaborate with stakeholders and licensed cannabis laboratories in Vermont and neighboring states to ensure nimble responses to evolving cannabis quality issues. The position will supervise at least two chemists and will report to the Executive Director.
