Overview

The Environmental Assistance Office (EAO) is seeking a versatile and driven candidate to join our team as an Administrative Services Technician IV at our Montpelier, Vermont, office.

EAO is one of the two programs in the Environmental Compliance Division of the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation. This position will provide direct support to the EAO Program Manager, Healthy Homes Supervisor, and nine assistance specialists.
 
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team that works to protect human health and the environment through proactive assistance, outreach, and education on Vermont's environmental laws, regulations, rules, and permits
 
Core responsibilities of this position include: 

  • Providing assistance to members of the public, businesses, and regulated entities about VT's environmental regulations
  • Answering questions about Agency of Natural Resources' Healthy Homes Initiative and coordinating communications with current awardees
  • Completing special projects from the EAO program manager
  • Other general office duties including, but not limited to, ordering supplies, processing mail, and serving as a liaison on Department teams 

 
The ideal candidate is self-motivated and patient, has excellent written and oral communication skills, manages time effectively and multitasks routinely, has strong organization skills, meets deadlines, and is able to work independently and as a team member with other Division and Agency staff. 

 

This is a part-time temporary position with an expected average of 20 hours of work per week through December 31, 2024 with a possible extension until June 30, 2025.

Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year of College level study in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field.

 

OR

 

High school graduation or equivalent and one (1) year of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization.

 

OR

 

One (1) year as an Administrative Services Technician III with the State of Vermont.

Special Requirements

For some positions experience working with the VISION system (VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required.
