Job Description
SS&C is the largest global investor service provider, servicing more than 55 million investors. Continually investing in global technology and services across the spectrum of distribution channels including: Asset Managers, Financial Advisors, Wealth Managers and large financial institutions such as Banks and Insurers. Investor servicing is offered in many different countries, including the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, Luxembourg, Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore. SS&C also services mutual fund structures in many other fund domiciles.
Global Investor and Distribution Solutions (GIDS) is the business unit offering this role. GIDS delivers global omni-channel investor servicing, including contact centre, using digital services.
About the Role
You will be responsible for leading the business on data protection across the SS&C GIDS Europe division locations. As the subject matter expert you will support the development of SS&C's strategic and tactical approach to ensure data protection effectiveness.
Your Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading the Data Protection team in the SS&C GIDS Europe division, supporting our strategic and tactical approach
- Provide leadership, guidance, support on data protection legislation and regulation across the business, working in conjunction with the relevant internal teams
- Provide reassurance to the relevant committees, when required, that key data protection risks have been identified and mitigated
- Champion responsibility for data protection through the relevant discipline frameworks and lines of defence model in place at GIDS Europe
- Draft and manage data protection related policies in line with relevant legislation and regulation
- Provide data protection advice, guidance and second line oversight through, for example, the Data Protection Impact Assessment process for projects and initiatives i.e. new business proposals, new products and services
- Identify and take actions to help build upon our data protection culture
- Work proactively with the relevant teams and produce company-wide training to support our data protection education programme and data protection awareness culture
- Face off to clients and senior management, communicating relevant key issues and initiatives, when required
- Act as the contact point and co-operate with relevant regulators and external bodies as and when required
- Provide advice, guidance and second line oversight to the business to ensure requests from data subjects are dealt with in an appropriate and timely manner
- Carry out any other data protection related duties which are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed
Your Experience
- Experience in managing a data protection programme across an international group
- Thorough knowledge of data protection requirements in Europe, with detailed knowledge about the UK and EU
- Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection or AIPP CIPP/E or equivalent
- Expertise in the practical aspects of data protection management including knowledge of applying adequate safeguards to the transfer of personal data to countries outside the UK and the EU
- Good understanding of third party administration
- Good understanding of the Financial Services Industry and data protection requirements for investment products
- Flexibility to work solo or as the leader of a team within a structured environment
