SAIC is seeking a Technical Writer to support the Secret and Below Releasable Environment (SABRE) program in the Air Force Cloud One Common Computing Environment (CCE) under the Air Force Lifecycle Management Center Office for Network Integration (AFLCMC/HNI). SABRE is a key component of the DoD Operational Mission Partner Environment (MPE) and the DoD strategy on how to send, secure and share critical data to United States and its global mission partners as quickly possible, reduce the cost of maintaining multiple bilateral and multilateral networks, and secure the mission partner ally enterprise networks and information domains against constantly evolving near peer adversaries. SABRE also serves as a pathfinder in developing Zero-Trust (ZT) policy at the DoD and Service-levels on the combatant use of Information Domains as a contested warfighting environment and the future of data-centric operations.

This position is 100% remote. There is no requirement to work at a SAIC or customer site to support Cloud One. The candidate MUST have access to a Department of Defense location with regular SIPR network connectivity. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit, and format technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and other cybersecurity-related publications.
  • Create and update material for reports, briefs, proposals and related technical and administrative publications and policies concerned with work methods and procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Refine work of writers, and heads and coordinate activities of writers engaged in preparing technical, scientific, or other material for publication
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather information, verify details, and ensure the accuracy of documentation.
  • Develop content that meets industry standards and is tailored to technical and non-technical audiences, including end-users, engineers, and management.
  • Translate complex technical jargon into clear, concise, and actionable documentation.
  • Ensure all documentation aligns with organizational cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Conduct periodic reviews and updates of existing documentation to ensure it remains accurate and relevant.
  • Ensure that all deliverables meet quality and compliance standards, such as FISMA, NIST, or other relevant cybersecurity frameworks.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and ten (10) plus years' experience; Masters and eight (8) plus years' of experience.
  • Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree

Required Clearance:

  • Active Interim Secret clearance required to maintain employment
  • US citizenship required

Certification:

  • Ability to obtain a Security + 

Required Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Proficiency with technical writing tools such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, or similar.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks.
  • Experience with version control, content management systems, and document lifecycle management is a plus.

Desired Skills and Certification:

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts, practices, and standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA, Zero Trust, etc.)
  • Knowledge of security frameworks, compliance standards, and best practices (FISMA, NIST, ISO, etc.)
  • Technology certifications such as Security+, ITIL 4 Foundation etc

Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline.

Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
