SAIC is seeking a Senior Safety Engineer to support STARCOMM S2/S3 in El Segundo, California supporting the STARCOM S2/S3 contract. 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the System Safety Government Team by evaluating ESOH risks identified by the government, contractors, or other stakeholders, preparing ESOH documents and providing system safety support for Space Flight Worthiness certification
  • Document, perform, and execute changes to Government System Safety documents
  • Review and participate in government evaluations of contractor documentation to hazard analyses, mitigation strategies, and safety assessments, as well as advise the government team
  • Perform safety risk assessments in accordance with Program and Space Force guidance documents and prepare safety risk assessments for acceptance or for further mitigation.
  • Prepare documents including but not limited to: Programmatic Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Evaluation (PESHE) and Space Debris Assessment Report/End of Life Plan for space vehicles
  • Prepare and support the System Safety elements of the space vehicle Space Flight Worthiness certification
  • Collaborating with prime contractors, other support contractors, government civilians, and members of the U.S. Space Force

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience in systems engineering
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Familiarity with Systems Safety engineering, to include System Safety Engineering practices, techniques, and procedures and working with System Safety military standards and regulations
  • Ability to coordinate with numerous stakeholders and customers

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Master's Degree
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance
  • Certifications in Systems Engineering (INCOSE ESEP, CSEP)
  • Knowledge and experience in Jira and Confluence
  • Experience working with military and DoD civilian clients
  • Experience and familiarity experience working on a government space systems program
  • Experience working on a Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) contract

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
