SAIC is looking for an Engineering Technician VI in Bedford, IN to support our Combat and Strategic Systems Operation.
The person in this position will serve as a master mechanic and instructor for the Mobility Platform Integration Program. In this multifaceted role, the individual will be the primary mechanical expert responsible for advanced diagnostics, maintenance, and instructional leadership on various light and medium tactical vehicles, including JLTV, MRZR-D, and ULTV. This role demands not only technical prowess with complex vehicle systems but also strong educational skills to provide effective maintenance training to external Marine customers and internal technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct high-level diagnostics, maintenance, and overhaul of tactical vehicle platforms such as JLTV, MRZR-D, and ULTV.
- Develop comprehensive maintenance schedules and oversee adherence to ensure optimal vehicle performance.
- Lead intricate repairs utilizing a blend of modern electronic diagnostic tools and conventional mechanic techniques.
- Serve as the program's lead mechanical expert, providing maintenance training to Marines and internal technicians.
- Support the development of maintenance training materials and curricula, adapting teaching methods to suit different learning styles.
- Demonstrate and instruct on the proper use of tools, diagnostic equipment, and best practices in vehicle maintenance.
- Collaborate with a team of engineers and technical staff on vehicle systems upgrades and integration.
- Create and maintain meticulous records of maintenance activities, parts inventories, and training outcomes.
- Promote strict compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations in all operational and training activities.
- Keep abreast of the latest developments in tactical vehicle technology to enhance training programs and maintenance procedures.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS
- Associate's Degree and a minimum of 10 years of senior-level experience in maintaining tactical vehicles, including platforms such as JLTV, MRZR-D, and ULTV.
- Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance; Interim Secret needed to start
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Possession of at least 8 current ASE certifications, with a preference for specialties in heavy vehicle or military equipment.
- Proven ability in using diagnostic software and tools for advanced vehicular maintenance.
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic systems in tactical vehicles.
- Strong capability in developing and delivering technical training materials and courses.
- Experience in leading teams and managing complex maintenance and repair operations.
- Medium/Heavy Duty and Light Duty diesel experience.
- Experience working with Cat-ET, DG Diagnostics, and the DANA testing tool (two or more years)
- Knowledge of quality systems (e.g., inspection process, company quality procedures).
- Excellent communication skills, capable of delivering technical training to diverse audiences.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency status may be required for government or defense contracting roles.
DESIRED
- Experience as a trainer or instructor in vehicle maintenance within military or government programs.
- Further certifications or qualifications in education, training, or a closely related field.
- Practical experience with military logistics, supply chain, and inventory systems.
