Description
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Systems Administrator to support the design and delivery of a secure, monitored, cloud-hosted production laboratory. The laboratory will be used by data science teams to create analytics for insights and AI/ML models for deployment in a high-stakes production environment.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining the cloud computing environment in the federal workspace, ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and security of the infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, provision, and manage cloud infrastructure in AWS to ensure a robust and scalable environment.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline the development and deployment of software applications.
- Administer and optimize Databricks environments to support data analytics and engineering tasks.
- Manage AWS services, ensuring best practices and compliance with security standards.
- Collaborate with development teams to automate and integrate workflow processes.
- Monitor cloud resources, implement cost-saving strategies, and perform resource optimization.
- Manage full lifecycle of services from inception to operational support, including troubleshooting and performance tuning.
- Document processes, systems, and their associated configurations.
- Stay current with new cloud technologies and industry best practices to recommend enhancements to our cloud strategy.
- Proactively identify and address technical issues and challenges to improve the efficiency and reliability of cloud-based systems.
- Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability, including backup and disaster recovery planning.
- Administer and manage cloud environments in accordance with compliance standards (such as ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, etc.) and security policies.
- Work with cross-functional teams to support the smooth deployment of cloud services across various operational environments.
- Collaborate with IT security team to monitor cloud infrastructure for security breaches and respond to incidents.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
- Proven experience in cloud systems administration, with a strong emphasis on AWS.
- Proven experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline.
- Solid understanding and experience with Databricks administration and best practices.
- Familiarity with container orchestration services such as Kubernetes or AWS ECS.
- Strong scripting skills in languages like Python, Bash, or similar for automation purposes.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.
- Experience with virtualization technologies like VMWare, Hyper-V, etc.
- Understanding of networking principles and internet protocols.
- Familiarity with data backup/recovery, job scheduling, and monitoring tools.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Databricks and understanding of big data ecosystems.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, AWS, CloudFormation, etc.
- Understanding of deployment pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing security practices in cloud architectures.
- Experience using Agile and DevSecOps methodologies, practices, and tools.
Desired Skills:
- Previous experience working in a regulated environment, particularly within government agencies like the IRS.
- Prior experience in a high-stakes production environment where uptime is critical.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator, Google Certified Professional Cloud Architect).
- Experience with AI/ML platforms and understanding of their integration with cloud environments.
- Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, including performance tuning.
- Experience with monitoring tools like Datadog, Splunk, or AWS CloudWatch.
Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
