Organization Overview

The Rockefeller University Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) seeks an Equity Building intern passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion. This role will assist with design, implementation, and assessment of programs, initiatives, and special projects to further ODEI's mission of creating a campus community where everyone deserves to feel welcome and valued. Overview

The Equity Building intern will interact with all levels of the Rockefeller community and strategically collaborate with a wide range of labs, departments, and vendors to develop programmatic and educational opportunities to build inclusion and foster a sense of belonging on campus.


Responsibilities

  • Supporting the creation, designing, implementation, and facilitation of ODEI's flagship programming, such as monthly trainee lunch club, BIOGROW, microgrants, etc
  • Assisting with planning, organizing, and coordinating large-scale initiatives such as Diversity Week, Rising Scholars Workshop, amongst other events 
  • Developing events and opportunities for dialogues for trainees from diverse communities, guided by community-building frameworks and the experiences of those with multiple marginalized identities
  • Helping promote DEI educational materials and resources across campus, including drafting campus-wide Heritage Month newsletters, creating flyers, etc
  • Complete administrative tasks and other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Academic Requirement: Be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, preferably studying Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Public Policy, Sociology, Government or a related field

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership experience at higher education institutions, including internships, extracurricular activities, or volunteer experience
  • Commitment and experience working with people from diverse backgrounds, including race/ethnicity, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, and socioeconomic status
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organization skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative work environment

Compensation: $20.00 to $25.00 per hour

Compensation Range: Min

USD $20.00/Hr.
Compensation Range: Max

USD $25.00/Hr.
