Summary

he Vice President of Category Services and Data Intelligence leads RNDC's Category Services division and Data Intelligence functions, driving strategic insights and actions across corporate, supplier, and state levels. This role focuses on leveraging data insights and category management to optimize products, enhance customer experience, and support business growth. Collaborating across functions, the VP develops and implements advanced category management strategies to align corporate and state sales operations with supplier partners, ensuring objectives are met and exceeded.

In this role, you will
  • Analyze market trends, consumer insights, and competitive dynamics to identify growth opportunities and inform category strategies.
  • Leverage advanced analytics to generate actionable insights from market, consumer, and sales data.
  • Define category goals, objectives, and KPIs, and establish frameworks to measure progress.
  • Drive customer- and supplier-centric strategies by understanding consumer behavior and preferences within the beverage industry.
  • Collaborate with marketing, sales, strategy, and supplier excellence teams to align and execute category plans effectively.
  • Monitor category performance, identify improvement opportunities, and provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Build strong partnerships with stakeholders, customers, and suppliers, developing joint business plans and KPIs to drive sales and distribution success.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing Category Services and Data Intelligence team.
  • Select and manage data and software vendors to maintain best-in-class category capabilities.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, recommending innovative initiatives for the beverage industry.
  • Oversee regional Category Services teams to align with statewide sales goals and supplier plans, ensuring mutual success for RNDC, customers, and suppliers.
     
What you bring to RNDC
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field required; MBA preferred.
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience, including on- and off-premise (retail) sales with an alcoholic beverage wholesaler or supplier; manager-of-manager experience preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and 12–14 years of experience in category management, sales, or a related focus area preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools, techniques, and systems such as Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and other relevant RNDC platforms (e.g., MicroStrategy).
  • Ability to analyze business opportunities, craft persuasive presentations, and write business proposals or executive reports using innovative approaches.
  • Expertise in assessing problems, collecting data, and developing actionable solutions with sound critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 35% of the time, including regular visits to chain units and corporate buying locations.
