• Required Certifications: BLS. Pals preferred.

Job Details
• Specialty: 5 Med Peds RN 14025
• Facility requires clinical prescreen. If recommended, the hiring manager has 24-hours to accept/decline this candidate. They will not call for a 2nd phone interview.
• Department: Med Peds | RN
• Experience: Peds experience preferred. One year okay. First time traveler okay.

Job Requirements
• Required certifications: BLS. Pals preferred.
• Common diagnoses: COPD, PN, DVT, simple surgeries- appe, chole, bowel surgeries, SBO. DM. No back/spine/strokes. Peds, Cysto- CBI. PD on the unit (will train). Peds- respiratory- RSV, bronchiolitis (HFNC) Bili, FTT, Appe, fractures, pain control.
• Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes- per protocol.
• Common titratable: Heparin, octreotide, protonix.
• Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit: Medical tele. Nurses verify strips. Central monitoring tech monitors and reads.

Schedule Information
• Shifts & Scheduling: 12 hours 5-530. Set up scheduled. Try to accommodate block schedule. First schedule may be plugging into where they need.

Unit Specific Information
• # Beds: 20
• Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:5-6 days and nights.
• Charge Nurse: Team leader (free of patients) during the week. Charge on nights- takes patients. Charge on weekends also takes patients.
• Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: Yes, 1:10-15. Check blood sugars, ADLS, Vitals.
• RT Equipment: CPAP/BIPAP/HFNC- kids and adults. Continuous bipap would not be on this unit. Respiratory manages.

• Peds Experience not required
• Weekend Requirement: Every other.
• Holiday Requirement: Expected to work if the need is there. Rotating.
• Is there Call or a Standby requirement?: No
• Floating Requirements: First to float. Must be okay with floating. Tele/ortho neuro/ Rehab. Within skill set.
• Scrub Color: Caribbean blue.
• Unit/Department specific orientation: One 12 hour shift with preceptor.
