The Director of Nursing provides nursing care to the residents and supervises the day-to-day nursing activities performed by the nursing team. Supervision is in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

  • Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the community
  • Ensure that all nursing personnel assigned to you comply with the written policies and procedures established by this Community
  • Periodically review the department's policies, procedure manuals, job descriptions and make recommendations for updates
  • Meets with nursing staff, as well as support personnel, in planning the shifts' services, programs, and nursing activities
  • Ensure that all nursing associates comply with the policies and procedures
  • Cooperate with other resident services when coordinating nursing services to ensure that the resident's total care is maintained
  • Ensures that all nursing service staff are in compliance with their respective job descriptions.
  • Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of the community's quality assurance program for the nursing department
  • Participate in facility inspections made by authorized government agencies
  • Reviews the resident's written discharge plan
  • Assist in the updating of the resident's written discharge plan
  • Assist in planning the nursing services portion of the resident's discharge plan, as necessary.
  • Interpret, train and uphold the policies and procedures to staff, residents, visitors, and government agencies
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents
  • Complete accident and incident reports
  • Write resident charge slips and forward them to the Business Office
  • Maintain the Daily Census Report and submit to the Business Office
  • Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc.
  • Attend and participate in Family Care Plan meetings
  • Responsible for conducting assessments of current and prospective residents
  • Responsible for the training and development of nursing and care staff
  • Ensures proper documentation using Yardi's eHMR
Requirements:
  • 2 or more years relevant experience
  • 2 or more years supervisory experience
  • Possess leadership ability and the willingness to work with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a California-approved LVN program
  • Current LVN or RN license for California
  • First-Aid, CPR, and/or BLS certified
  • Ability to work flexible hours including and not limited to: weekends, evenings, holidays, and/or events; to be available "on-call" for assessments, emergencies, etc.
  • Ability to manage a voicemail phone line, texting chat rooms, SMS chat rooms, and Teams/Zoom meetings
  • Ability to interface appropriately with other staff, residents and family members
  • Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures
  • Possess training in a skilled nursing care facility, hospital, or other medical-related facility
  • Experience with care and supervision for elders, seniors, geriatrics, cognitive brain diseases and memory care
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Must be authorized to work in the US
  • Able to speak, read and write in English
  • Possess a positive approach for elderly with a desire to provide genuine care and supervision
  • Able to follow basic instructions and carry out assignments independently
  • Able to interface appropriately with other staff, residents and family members
  • Able to assist and perform a variety of household duties preferably in a residential care community setting
