Description

The Division of Cardiac Critical Care Medicine at the Johns Hopkins All Children's Heart Institute in St. Petersburg, Florida is recruiting a Chief of the Division of Cardiac Critical Care Medicine and Medical Director of the Cardiovascular ICU. Our division staffs a 22-bed Cardiovascular ICU with eight division members and supports ACGME-approved fellowship training programs in Pediatric Critical Care, Pediatric Cardiology and Neonatology. In addition to providing comprehensive pediatric and congenital cardiac surgical care, The Heart Institute and the CVICU supports an active mechanical circulatory support (both ECMO and VAD) program along with the highest-volume pediatric heart transplantation program in South Florida over the last decade.

In addition to eight pediatric cardiac intensivists, the Heart Institute at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital includes three pediatric cardiac surgeons, twenty pediatric cardiologists, two pediatric cardiac anesthesiologists, and a team of highly productive advanced practice providers who provide exceptional clinical care across all specialties. We provide robust trainee education, innovative research opportunities, and a comprehensive quality infrastructure. Along with a core team of respiratory therapists, care within the CVICU is supported by dedicated Pharmacy and Nutrition services. Two cardiac operating rooms, along with two procedural suites supporting cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology services are immediately adjacent to the CVICU. In addition to our dedicated 22-bed admission-to-discharge CVICU, intensive care facilities include a 28-bed PICU and a 97-bed Level IV NICU.

Candidate requirements include specialized fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine and/or Pediatric Cardiology. The ideal candidate will be board certified in both pediatric cardiology and pediatric critical care medicine. However, strong consideration will be given to candidates with extensive experience in pediatric cardiac critical care with boards in either pediatric cardiology or critical care medicine. Leadership experience as a Section or Division Chief or a CVICU Director and a strong background in academic medicine is desired. The individual should be interested and possess the skills to recruit, develop and mentor divisional faculty members.

Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital (JHACH) is a 259-bed teaching hospital, ranked as a U.S. News & World Report Best Children's Hospital in 7 pediatric specialties (2023-2024) and the #1 children's hospital in Florida. JHACH is the only US hospital outside the Baltimore/Washington, D.C. location that is part of the Johns Hopkins Medicine system. Qualified candidates are eligible for a faculty appointment at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (academic rank is open and commensurate with experience). There are many opportunities for physicians to develop clinical, educational, and research interests.

Tampa-St. Petersburg is a premier place to work and live, offering year-round sunshine, abundant cultural and recreational activities, sports venues, and excellent schools. JHACH is centrally located to many of Florida's amenities, only minutes from the beautiful Gulf beaches, two hours from Orlando, and four hours from Miami.
