At Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital, we perform procedures including General/vascular, Orthopedics, Urology, GYN and ophthalmology. Our 8 operating rooms, freshly renovated in May 2020, include new system integration for more efficient flow during surgery.
As an Orthopedic Center of Excellence we provide an array of orthopedic procedures including same day discharge procedures for total joints.
Schedule: 0630-1500/1700 Mon-Fri, on call requirements (3-4 overnight weekday call in a 6 week schedule and one weekend every 6-8 weeks).
What You Will Do:
Job Summary:
As a Surgical Technologist, you will function as the scrub person during invasive and operative procedures. Under the direct supervision of an RN or physician, you will facilitate a physician's performance of therapeutic, diagnostic, and invasive procedures. You will ensure the operating room is safe, equipment is functioning, and patient safety is maximized throughout the procedure.
Key Responsibilities:
- First Scrub: Prepare and maintain sterile fields, pass instruments, and anticipate needs during surgeries.
- Support: Act as second assisting technologist and contribute to all surgical case preparations (skin prep, sterile draping, etc.).
- Safety & Readiness: Ensure the operating room is safe, all equipment is functioning, and procedures are performed under the highest standards of aseptic technique.
- Learning & Growth: Meet ST II requirements, complete annual learning activities, and mentor new employees or students.
- Team Collaboration: Actively participate in performance improvement efforts and support department efficiency.
- Anticipation: Proactively address needs during cases and contribute to team success.
What You Will Need:
- Education: Associate's Degree. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program (CST) preferred or equivalent military training.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years' experience in a hospital operating room setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or ability to obtain upon hire
- AST membership preferred
- Experience (or interest) in Orthopedics and Neurosurgery preferred
