We Are Hiring: Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner
The Emergency Department is a fast pace, high acuity ED with 35 patient rooms. We are a Stroke Center, Chest Pain Accredited, and a Level 3 Trauma Center. The unit sees 40,000 plus patients annually (birth to end of life). In addition to providing emergency services to patients of all ages the department supports victims of sexual abuse with specially trained sexual assault nurse examiners (SANE). The ED has about 80 staff members – Nurses, Techs, and HUCs.
What You Will Do:
A Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner at Waukesha Memorial Hospital is an RN who serves adult and adolescent female and male victims and suspects of sexual assault in Waukesha County. Under the medical direction of the SANE Medical Director, the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner conducts patient interviews, assessments and evaluations of victims post sexual assault. The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner collects evidence from victims and suspects according to SANE practices and WI State Crime Lab standards. This individual may participate in activities that address the needs of the population served across the continuum including prevention and post visit follow-up.
What You Will Need:
- Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wisconsin
- Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association, or the ability to obtain upon hire
- Must complete either a SANE Adult and Adolescent Basic Training Seminar (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) of 40 hours basic seminar or other, such as the WMH SANE training/orientation
