We Are Hiring: Health Unit Coordinator - 5MED - 0.9 FTE - 12hr Days 

 

Schedule Details: This .9 FTE commits to 36 hours per week and is considered full time. The shift is 12hr Days 7a-7:30p- Weekend rotation-Holiday Rotation.This is not a seasonal or temporary position. 

 

Starting at $15.00/hr- increases with experince! 

 

The Medical Unit at WMH is a fast paced, 53 bed unit serving a variety of patient populations.  The staff here provide care for patients with a diagnosis of Sepsis, Acute/Chronic Respiratory conditions, including but not limited to: Trachs/Vents, Cellulitis, Urinary Tract infections, chronic conditions such as COPD, Heart Failure, Diabetes, patients on Dialysis, and acute drug and alcohol withdrawal.  Our staff are also well prepared to care for medical patients with mental health conditions and those patients with Dementia.  There are approximately 120 staff on the unit, including: RN's (tenured and new), CNA's, Nurse Interns, Health Unit Coordinators, Staff Development Specialist, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Charge Nurse, Assistant Manager, and Manager to provide full support to the staff.

What You Will Do:

The Health Unit Coordinator provides customer service and clerical support to Physicians, members of the health care team, patients, and families. Enters charge data and supports department operations.

 

Some of the duties include but are not limited to:

  • Performs charge entry on patient accounts to ensure charges are accurate and ethical.
  • Uses HUC and Clerical Staff tools and resources provided by ProHealth Care to determine chargeable items.
  • Reconciles the prior day's activity daily to ensure charge entry accuracy.
  • Collecting admission, discharge, and transfer (ADT) forms (e.g. Important Message from Medicare, Consent to Admit, Patient Rights and Responsibilities form, patient location and status) and updates the electronic medical record.
  • Facilitates department operations by dispatching health care team resources.
  • Answer, prioritize, and direct phone calls including paging and logging health care team responses.

 

What You Will Need:

  • High School Diploma - or equivalent
  • Previous experience preferred
  • Positive Attitude
