What You Will Be Doing:

You will be participating in all aspects of the software development lifecycle as you apply ground breaking techniques to develop and maintain multiple key components of our next generation of innovative applications to our customers.

As an Associate Software Engineer II, you will be helping to develop, enhance, and support applications in a fast-paced development environment; while working with senior members of the staff on small to medium sized projects in a diverse range of topics to produce deliverables. You will be maintaining and modernizing our existing systems as well as working on new applications. Working in our collaborative environment you will have the opportunity to further develop your skills by working with highly qualified mentors to support you as you take on a larger role in more complex projects.

Penske Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary contact for one or more application modules/ processes and help resolve customer issues in a timely manner.

• Participate in all aspects of the Penske defined Software Development lifecycle through supporting existing software development efforts and developing new software modules

• Participate in designing backend database schemas, using concepts such as Database Normalization and write SQL statements.

• Produce deliverables for small to medium sized projects with clean, well-documented and easily maintainable code that adheres to defined coding standards.

• Review, interpret and develop systems in accordance with user requirements & troubleshoot issues as they occur.

• Begin to write unit / UI tests to help identify defects.

• Participate in troubleshooting / Debugging application performance issues.

• Collaborate with technical leads and product owners to acquire and understand requirements / acceptance criteria and translate into technical requirements.

• Recommend task delegation for onshore / offshore technical resources to leads as necessary.

• Work closely with the project team and report clearly and accurately to management.

• Build and maintain stable working relationships internally.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or equivalent years of software development experience

• 1-2 years of experience/knowledge of appropriate programming languages Java/RPG

• Knowledge of front-end technology such as React, Angular, jQuery, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS

• Knowledge and experience of appropriate design frameworks and object-oriented techniques dependent upon the role.

• Understanding of the full software development lifecycle.

• Ability to work independently

• Understanding and application of relational database design and implementation.

• Professional demeanor, works effectively in a team setting

• Aptitude and desire for learning new technologies and concepts

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.

• Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.

This position works on a hybrid schedule out of Reading, PA.
