Site Description:  Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores) is a public hospital providing a spectrum of specialized assessment and treatment services to those living with complex and serious mental illness. Job Description:

Working on assigned shifts, you will work full time shifts providing proactive and reactive security patrols and response to incidents.  You will be required to write reports and investigate routine incidents, as well as respond to coded emergencies in a quick and efficient manner.  You should display excellent customer service skills and be able to work with people who are under stress or in need of medical assistance.  In this role, it is essential that you are physically fit and able to stand and walk for long periods of time. 

This position is a high-caliber position and will also include the following responsibilities: 

  • Patrol assigned area on foot, as assigned, to ensure personal, building, and equipment security.
  • Watch for and report irregularities by completing investigations and incident reports, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations; contact emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required.
  • Utilize two-way radio and computer applications for communicating site activities.
  • Sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders and provide specialized security services by enforcing rules and regulations when required.
  • Offer support to any person in need such as providing good customer service when providing a security presence, such as providing direction, responding to emergency situation involving violent individuals and injuries.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned 
Prerequisites:  
  • Valid Security License for the province of Ontario  
  • Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor) 
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must  
  • Previous experience in security, by-law, parking enforcement - considered an asset  
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)  
  • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position  
  • Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
