The Kingston General Hospital (KGH) site is an acute-care teaching hospital affiliated with Queen's University located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Along with the Hotel Dieu Hospital (HDH) site, these hospitals form Kingston Health Sciences Centre which delivers health care services to more than 500,000 residents throughout southeastern Ontario; conducts health care research and trains future health care professionals.

Position Details:

Position: Healthcare Security Guard- full time- KGH
Site: Kingston General Hospital (KGH) - 76 Stuart Street, Kingston, ON, K7L 2V7
Hours: Rotating Continental Rotation - 0800-2000 hrs. and 2000-0800 hrs.
Payrate: $22.61/hour
Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours  
Posting Date: March 6, 2025 Internal Closing Date: March 11, 2025
External Closing Date: March 11, 2025
Schedule Example: 
Week 1 - Days - Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat  Week 2 - Days - Sun, Wed-Thu  Week 3 - Nights - Mon-Tues, Fri-Sat  Week 4 - Nights - Sun, Wed-Thu

Key Responsibilities:
 

•  Present a smart, visible, and alert security presence
•  Greet, assist, and direct members of the public visiting the premises
•  Ensure the safety & security of clients, buildings, and assets
•  Work effectively, both independently and as part of a team
•  Carry out all security duties as specified (including, but not limited to):
•  Proactive/reactive interior & exterior patrols
•  Response & assistance in emergency situations
•  Documenting & reporting of any/all security events on shift
•  Investigate routine incidents
•  Patient watches
•  Parking & smoking by-law enforcement
•  Hospital policy awareness & enforcement
•  Access control/key control
•  Monthly safety inspections
•  Additional duties as assigned

Prerequisites: 
 

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario  
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor) 
• Covid Vaccine two doses
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test 
• Valid G class Driver License 
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must  
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)  
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position  
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
