Reports to the Center Director and is a salaried, exempt position. Supervises the center Student Behavior Management system, including zero tolerance for drugs and violence.  Responsible for ensuring student compliance with Job Corps regulations.  Assists students in acquiring social maturity needed to gain employment and commence a career.  Demonstrates on-going commitment to preparing young people for the workforce by modeling, mentoring, and monitoring excellence in the eight Career Success Standards of: workplace relations and ethics; information management; communications; multicultural awareness; personal growth and development; career and personal planning; interpersonal skills and independent living.

Average Annual Salary Range: $45,000 to $47,000

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Demonstrates and abides by Odle Core Values and operating principles.
  • Reviews all behavioral reports for consistency and conformity to the rules, deciding which level of the center's Behavior Management System should deal with each problem.
  • Administers penalties directly for specified disciplinary infractions as per scheduled penalty guidelines for center.
  • Participates in CPP Program to ensure that center rules and regulations, disciplinary system and penalties are thoroughly explained. Participates in 30-day probationary period evaluation.
  • Responsible for in-service training of all staff members with respect to their roles in total behavior management system.
  • Monitors all class attendance reports and coordinates all disciplinary action deemed necessary because of excessive class absenteeism.
  • Prepares all statistical reports necessary in compiling the Monthly Management Report and other statistics concerning disciplinary activities.
  • Ensures that the disciplinary process is properly recorded and documented, and that Job Corps policies and guidelines are followed.
  • Ensures that appropriate staff receives feedback on incidents of student misbehavior.
  • Monitors and coordinates activities of the Center Review Board.
  • Maintains a complete file of all students disciplinary records.
  • Ensures the proper functioning of the student disciplinary council (CDC) to include training of board members, supervision of elections, etc.
  • Maintain and responsible for Student Government Association. 
  • Attends required staff training sessions.
  • Adheres to all aspects of ODLE Quality Assurance Plan.
  • Cultivate and maintain a climate on center that is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect in order to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
  • Clearly communicate and consistently model appropriate CSS and employability skills including personal responsibility and computer fluency.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor's degree in social science or work-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Job Corps experience preferred.
  • One year's experience in law enforcement, disciplinary or youth counseling capacity preferred.
  • Valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record preferred.

Additional Requirements: Knowledge of disciplinary and behavior management techniques. Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification. Ability to effectively relate to trainee population. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
