Position Summary:

NRECA's Finance department manages the accounting, financial planning/budgeting, and procurement operations across a broad range of entities and businesses that support NRECA and its affiliated organizations, trusts, and other entities. We are a team of dynamic individuals collaborating across NRECA to implement best practices and provide innovative business solutions. We enable the good stewardship of member funds across NRECA by diligently embracing our core values of transparency and fiscal responsibility.

The Corporate Accounting team in the Finance department records, reviews, and manages financial transactions of NRECA programs. This accountant position serves as the Finance liaison for the Education, Training, and Events and Marketing & Communications team members, working closely with the Financial Analyst of each respective department.

The Corporate Accounting team always strives to provide Service Excellence to NRECA members and colleagues. We are searching for a highly motivated and collaborative new team member with knowledge and experience of the application of GAAP to various month-end close processes. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and effective time-management skills are integral for this role.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Recording journal entries for revenue and expense recognition
  • Reviewing high volume of financial activity
  • Maintaining balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assisting with month and year-end close tasks
  • Providing support for the annual external financial audit

 Formal Education Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

Qualifications

 Experience and Certifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • 3 or more years of progressive accounting/finance experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Experience using automated general ledger systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in nonprofit
  • Experience using Workday Finance and NetForum
  • CPA; CPA candidate


Essential Physical Requirements:

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
