Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) seeks an experienced Infection Preventionist (IP) to lead and enhance our infection prevention efforts. In this vital role, you will be the go-to expert and consultant for infection prevention in outpatient practices and patient care units, ensuring strict adherence to infection prevention policies and swiftly addressing control breaches. Your responsibilities include hospital-wide comprehensive infection surveillance, prevention, and control activities. You will investigate healthcare-associated infections, report on infectious diseases, and compile quarterly reports based on your findings.
As a seasoned professional, you will maintain compliance with CDC guidelines, Joint Commission, and CMS standards while also playing a pivotal role in new employee orientation. As a valuable resource to the community, physicians, hospital departments, and outpatient practices, you will collaborate with organizational staff and community partners to meet and exceed regulatory requirements related to the Environment of Care. What you'll do day-to-day:
- Develop and maintain hospital-wide infection prevention policies, objectives, and data systems, ensuring compliance with CDC, Joint Commission, and CMS standards.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, providing consultation on infection prevention across outpatient practices, patient care units, and all departments.
- Collaborate with the Medicine Committee and local health officials on infection prevention programs, including monitoring and reporting communicable diseases.
- Implement, teach, and enforce infection prevention measures while managing post-exposure follow-up.
- Pursue professional growth through education and certifications, including achieving a CIC credential within one year of eligibility.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field
- Three years of experience in a hospital setting is required.
- Word, PowerPoint, and Excel knowledge are required.
- Demonstrated excellent written, oral, and presentation skills, with active and respectful listening skills as desired.
- Demonstrated ability to interface collaboratively and effectively with physicians, administrators, nurses, other staff and students, representatives of regulatory bodies, consultants, and patients.
Required Licensure/Certifications:
Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) required within two years of employment
