Job Description
Primary Purpose
The Senior General Supervisor – Pier Operation is responsible for overseeing the General Supervisors and ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of pier activities. This role involves strategic planning, leadership, and continuous improvement to drive productivity and growth within the team.
Principal Duties
Safety:
• Lead and oversee pre-shift safety meetings, ensuring high standards and effective coaching.
• Ensure all safety protocols are followed and address any safety concerns promptly.
• Monitor and enforce compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Foster a safety-first culture by leading by example and promoting team involvement.
Service:
• Supervise and support General Supervisors in managing daily production and locomotive dispatch.
• Oversee the planning and execution of pier operations, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
• Manage resource allocation, including materials, tools, and equipment.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to General Supervisors.
• Participate in shift turnovers and communicate operational updates and training opportunities.
Leadership:
• Develop and implement strategic plans to improve pier operations and achieve company goals.
• Mentor and coach General Supervisors, fostering professional growth and development.
• Address and resolve any personnel issues, ensuring a positive work environment.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations and support company initiatives.
• Lead root cause analysis for process failures and implement improvement initiatives.
Job Related Experience:
• 7-10 years of managerial experience in pier operations or a related field.
• Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
Education:
• Preferred Level: Bachelor's degree (BS) in logistics, process improvement, or a related field.
Licenses/Certifications:
• Required: None listed

Skills and Abilities:
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• In-depth knowledge of railroad operations and pier management.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
