Description

The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai affiliated with NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst is seeking a full-time Trauma, Critical Care and Acute Care Surgeon. Elmhurst Hospital Center is a 545-bed tertiary care facility and an ACS-verified level 1 trauma center in the ethnically diverse New York City borough of Queens. Elmhurst Hospital is part of New York City Health + Hospitals, the largest municipal hospital system in the nation.

The successful applicant will join a busy Trauma Center caring for over 1600 trauma admissions per year as well as an extremely active acute care surgery service. The successful candidate will join a group of surgical intensivists managing our dedicated 12-bed Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit as well as an 8-bed Surgical Step-down unit. There is also an opportunity to develop an elective general surgical practice, including use of the DaVinci Surgical Robot.

A strong interest in teaching is essential since Elmhurst is one of the primary teaching affiliates of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and has a full completement of general surgery residents on its Trauma and Surgery service. In addition, Elmhurst has its own ACGME accredited fellowship in Surgical Critical Care and the successful applicant will be expected to serve as one of the core faculty for the fellowship. Elmhurst Hospital also serves as a major site for the third-year surgical clerkship for medical students from Mt. Sinai as well as St. George's University School of Medicine. There are also ample opportunities for research through our well-developed trauma research division.

Candidates must have a MD degree and be board certified/eligible in Surgery and Surgical Critical Care with a valid New York State License, DEA and Medicaid number. Qualified candidates should have strong clinical abilities, teaching experience, communication and interpersonal skills. We offer faculty appointment with the Icahn School of Medical at Mount Sinai commensurate with credentials, experience and qualifications. We also offer a highly competitive compensation and benefits package including CME. Annual compensation is approximately $500,000.
