New York City Health + Hospitals | Elmhurst, a teaching affiliate of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, is one of 11 acute care municipal hospitals in New York City and is a part of the largest public hospital system in the United States. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate for a full-time Physician Associate Supervisor position in the department of Emergency Medicine. Candidate will be an employee of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. This is an excellent opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team working with a diverse patient population. The salary range for this position is between $140-$180k dependent on years of experience (5 to 16+) with an additional $7,500 bonus for supervisory role. This is a non-union position.
Clinical Summary: Under the general supervision of a licensed physician, evaluate and treat patients having medical and/or surgical problems. Perform routine histories and physical examinations; perform and/or interpret diagnostic tests and/or procedures as detailed in the department specific scope of practice. Participate in teaching and quality assurance activities with other members of the clinical department. Delivers direct patient care.
Administrative Summary: Responsibilities include the recruitment, onboarding, supervision, development, scheduling and routine evaluation of emergency department staff physician assistants in a busy NYC level 1 Trauma Center serving an ethnically diverse population in Queens NY. Must be available to approve, coordinate & update online schedules to reflect real time changes as a result of OT, shift switches or sick call.
Prospective employee will have the opportunity to participate in daily ED operational management decisions, departmental & hospital strategic planning and quality assurance/performance/improvement projects. Preference is for a 5-day workweek which includes 1 clinical shift and 4 administrative shifts per week. ATLS coordinator status and/or knowledge of Epic workbench or Cogito reporting tools is a plus. The Supervising Physician assistant is an essential member of the ED leadership team and reports directly to the Deputy CMO of Emergency Medicine Services.
Qualifications include:
- Position requires completion of an accredited Physician Assistant training program with a Bachelor or Master's degree in Health Science
- Minimum 5 or more years of clinical experience as a physician assistant practice in the emergency department
- NCCPA current certification required
- NYS license to practice as a Physician Assistant
- BLS/ACLS/PALS certification; DEA
- ATLS required within 6 months of employment
- Basic MS Office Suite and Epic skills required
