- 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday: 11A - 7:30P or 12P - 8:30P; Requires every other Saturday from 7A - 3:30P; On-Call rotation; 1 Holiday Call Shift)
- Mid Shifts / Weekends
- Performs MRI procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
- May be required to work flexible hours, alternate shifts and weekends and call as necessary to provide quality patient care at assigned site(s).
- May be required to flex hours/shift as needed to support the needs of the department.
- Works as part of a multidisciplinary team, serving on committees and participating in projects as requested.
- Performs procedures or examinations under the order of a licensed medical practitioner for diagnostic interpretation.
- Prepares patient for procedures.
- Provides patient instruction to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
- Applies principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self and others.
- Selects and operates the magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results.
- Positions the patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability, safety and comfort.
- Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination.
- Selects appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
- Performs venipuncture, starts and maintains venous access.
- Prepares and administers contrast media.
- Verifies consent/screening form.
- Uses appropriate scripting, barriers and identifiers.
- Assists the physician with interventional procedures.
- Practices aseptic technique and observes universal precautions.
- Evaluates images and data for technical quality.
- Manipulates and reconstructs digital data for display, ensuring proper identification is evident.
- Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures.
- Uses radiology information systems (including PACS), completes all required records and reports, archives and submits images for physician review and interpretation.
- Initiates basic life support action when necessary.
- Provides practical instruction to partners and students.
- Job Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited radiography program
- Experience as an MRI Technologist
