  • MercyhealthJavon Bea Hospital - Riverside campus
  • 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday: 11A - 7:30P or 12P - 8:30P; Requires every other Saturday from 7A - 3:30P; On-Call rotation; 1 Holiday Call Shift)
  • Mid Shifts / Weekends
  • Performs MRI procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
  • May be required to work flexible hours, alternate shifts and weekends and call as necessary to provide quality patient care at assigned site(s).
  • May be required to flex hours/shift as needed to support the needs of the department.
  • Works as part of a multidisciplinary team, serving on committees and participating in projects as requested.
  • Performs procedures or examinations under the order of a licensed medical practitioner for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Prepares patient for procedures.
  • Provides patient instruction to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  • Applies principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self and others.
  • Selects and operates the magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment to achieve desired results.
  • Positions the patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability, safety and comfort.
  • Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination.
  • Selects appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
  • Performs venipuncture, starts and maintains venous access.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media.
  • Verifies consent/screening form.
  • Uses appropriate scripting, barriers and identifiers.
  • Assists the physician with interventional procedures.
  • Practices aseptic technique and observes universal precautions.
  • Evaluates images and data for technical quality.
  • Manipulates and reconstructs digital data for display, ensuring proper identification is evident.
  • Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures.
  • Uses radiology information systems (including PACS), completes all required records and reports, archives and submits images for physician review and interpretation.
  • Initiates basic life support action when necessary.
  • Provides practical instruction to partners and students.
    Job Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program
  • Experience as an MRI Technologist
